Usage and billing
The Usage tab in Settings shows how much of your plan you've used during the current billing period — AI (LLM) credits, email and text message sending, running automations, and file storage — and what's still available. It's read-only: this is where you check your standing, not where you change your plan.
Steps
- Open Settings and go to the Usage tab.
- At the top, check the header bar for your plan name, billing cadence, and the date your current period renews.
- Look at the LLM Credits card first. It shows the percentage of your monthly AI quota used, with a progress bar. If you also have consumable credits (extra credits that cover usage once your monthly allowance runs out), the card shows how many of those remain.
- Below that, the metric cards show your usage for email, text messages, running automations, running routines, and storage — each with how much you've used against your limit, and a status badge.
- If a channel (email or text) is connected through your own provider account rather than through the app, its card notes that it isn't metered here, since it doesn't draw from your plan's quota.
- To change your plan or add capacity, contact your account administrator — plan changes aren't made from this tab.
How text messages are counted: text-message usage is measured in credits. A domestic message segment costs 1 credit; an international one costs 10 (a long message is split into several segments, and each segment is counted). So your text-message allowance stretches further with short, local texts than with long or international ones.
Understanding what you see
Credits are how the app measures your AI usage — things like generating copy, images, or automated replies. Your plan includes a monthly allowance of credits; using AI features draws down that allowance. Some plans also include consumable credits, an extra reserve that only gets used once your monthly allowance is exhausted, so you can keep going instead of being cut off immediately.
Each metric card shows a status badge:
- OK — comfortably within your limit.
- WARN — you're close to your limit (typically 80% or more). Nothing is blocked yet, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
- BLOCKED — you've hit the limit for that item and it's currently paused until either the period renews or more capacity is added.
Not every metric can block your account. Running automations, running routines, and storage are shown for visibility only — going over doesn't stop anything, it's just a heads-up. Email sending, text message sending, and AI credits can actually pause that feature once you're over, unless consumable credits are covering the overage.
The color of the progress bar reflects whether something is actually stopped, not just how much you've used. A bar only turns red when that feature is genuinely blocked. If your monthly AI allowance is fully used but consumable credits are still covering new requests, the bar shows amber (a warning) rather than red, because AI features are still working — you just want to know you're now spending from your reserve.
When you don't have an active subscription
Your plan is what unlocks the app's metered features — AI, email sending, and text messaging. To use them, your workspace needs an active subscription.
If your workspace has no subscription, or your subscription has expired or been canceled, those features are paused and a "Subscription required" banner appears at the top of the app. You can still sign in and review your existing data — contacts, past campaigns, drafts — but new AI, email, and text actions won't run until the subscription is renewed. When you ask the assistant to do something metered, it will tell you a subscription is required rather than attempting the action.
This is different from hitting a usage cap. A cap means you've used up an allowance your plan does include (renew the period or add capacity to continue); "subscription required" means there's no active plan granting that capability at all. Renewing is handled by your account administrator, the same as plan changes — once the subscription is active again the banner clears and your features resume with whatever caps and limits your plan sets.
Grace periods. If a payment is running late — a wire transfer that hasn't cleared yet, for example — your administrator can grant a short grace period so you keep working while it's sorted out. During grace you'll see a lighter "payment pending" note instead of the blocking banner. The grace time counts as part of the renewed period rather than being added on top of it, so a grace period doesn't push your billing date out beyond its normal schedule.
Tips
- Check the Usage tab periodically rather than waiting for something to stop working — the WARN status gives you a heads-up before anything is blocked.
- If a channel shows as "not metered," that usage lives entirely with your own provider account, so it won't affect your plan's limits.
- Usage always reflects the current billing period; it resets when your period renews.
FAQ
Q: What happens when I run out of AI credits? A: If you have consumable credits available, the app keeps working and draws from that reserve — you'll see a note on the Credits card letting you know. If there are no consumable credits left, AI features are blocked until your monthly allowance renews or more credits are added.
Q: Does going over on running automations or storage stop anything? A: No. Those are notify-only — you'll see a warning status if you're close to or over the typical limit, but nothing is paused. Email, text messaging, and AI credits are the items that can actually block a feature.
Q: How do I add more capacity or change my plan? A: That's handled by your account administrator outside of this tab — the Usage tab is for checking your current standing, not making changes.
Q: What happens if my subscription expires? A: AI, email, and text features pause until it's renewed, and a "Subscription required" banner appears. Your data stays in place and remains viewable; only new metered actions are paused. Ask your account administrator to renew — once the subscription is active again, everything resumes.
Q: My payment is going to be a few days late — do I lose access? A: Not necessarily. Your administrator can grant a grace period so your features keep working while the payment is reconciled. The grace time is counted as part of your renewed billing period, not added on top of it.
Q: I raised my monthly allowance mid-period — do I get back the consumable credits I'd already spent on overage? A: Yes. Consumable credits only cover usage above your monthly allowance, so if a larger allowance (an add-on or plan change) means you're no longer over — or less over — than before, the credits that had been drawn for that overage are automatically returned to your reserve. Your consumable balance always reflects only the usage that's genuinely above your current allowance for the period.
